A busy summer of fundraising events is the best holiday I can have

It’s certainly been a summer not to forgot; delayed flights, ongoing economic instability plus a heatwave that brought with it the hottest temperatures ever recorded in this country. I’ve been lucky enough to have a few trips away with family and friends, which of course has been amazing (though with the hot weather over here I maybe didn’t need to jump on the plane!).

For me though, the best thing about summer is travelling around to the various charity events and fundraisers I get invited to. Give me that over an overseas trip any day!

This June for example, I was down in London on business, but also found time for two amazing charity events. First up was Variety, the Children’s Charity and the 17th Gastronomic Evening, on Tuesday 28th of June at The Biltmore Mayfair, which was a beautiful venue and one I hope to visit again. We were treated to an incredible menu of six mouth-watering courses and paired wines, it was such a delicious experience. And if that wasn’t enough I also had the joy of meeting the brilliant Dante Marvin again. I was able to share the news that he will be getting his new wheelchair that he needs, such a great evening and what a great event. We love you Dante!

Then on Wednesday the 29th of June it was off to The Grand Prix Ball at the Hurlingham Club, in aid of two amazing LGBTQIA+ charities; Racing Pride UK which is an innovative movement developed to positively promote LGBTQIA+ diversity within the motorsport and among its technological and commercial partners. There was also Just Like Us which works with schools and runs an Ambassador Programme to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ young people. Finally, The Grand Prix Ball supported Casa Global Gift, which is a day centre for children with special needs, founded by my good friend Maria Bravo.

It was a hectic week, but I can honestly say that it has been the most rewarding part of my summer so far. It’s where I feel most at home and it does something to me that I can’t explain. I’m very much looking forward to some more events! Including of course my own, the Michael Josephson Charity Ball 2022 which is on the 12th of November. Hope to see you all there!
